Current Projects

At Oceanidad, every project reflects our mission to promote ocean health and global sustainability through the principles of One Health, One Planet, and One Consciousness.

We are currently working on two interconnected research and conservation initiatives:
1. CETANET: A collaborative effort to study the health of cetaceans in the Gulf of Tribugá.

2. COGNID: A German-Colombian scientific network, led by the Medizinische Hochschule Brandenburg (MHB), exploring the interconnections between environmental, human, and animal health through microbiome and cancer research.

Protecting What Matters: A Tour of Our Work

  • Hotspot and Hope Spot

    The Gulf of Tribugá is not only one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet! It is also designated as a Hope Spot by the foundation Mission Blue, highlighting its vital importance for the planet’s health.

  • A haven for endangered sea turtles

    The gulf’s beaches serve as nesting grounds for critically endangered sea turtles, a reminder of the urgent need for more research and conservation.

  • Shark love!

    The Gulf of Tribugá serves as a critical nursery for hammerhead (and potentially other) sharks, offering a safe haven where they can raise their young.

    Scared of sharks? Remember, sharks are essential for maintaining the health of our oceans. A sea without sharks would be so much more scary than a sea with them!

  • Reproductive and nursery site for cetaceans:

    The Gulf of Tribugá is an important reproductive and nursery ground for cetaceans (whales and dolphins), including humpback whales, where they find sanctuary to raise their calves.
