Healthy Oceans need healthy sharks
How we work
Our goal goes beyond monitoring sharks. We use scientific evidence and local knowledge to better understand important habitats and potential threats - and work together with local stakeholders to translate these insights into practical conservation action.
Interviews
Our work starts with interviewing local fishers and community members to gather knowledge about shark sightings, habitats and potential threats.
Monitoring
We monitor selected areas using methods such as eDNA and underwater cameras to document shark presence and diversity.
Conservation action
Our goal is to translate the evidence generated through the project into concrete actions that help protect sharks and their habitats.
Meet the team
Our team brings together marine scientists, local experts and community members to better understand and protect sharks in the Gulf of Tribugá. By combining scientific expertise, local knowledge and a shared commitment to shark conservation, we work to turn knowledge into meaningful conservation action.
This project is a joint effort by the teams of Oceanidad and SHARKVOICE.
